Bob
Blodgett walked into my studio and asked me to animate a short film to
the music of the Flying Burrito Brothers hit "Acapulco Gold",
which ran for 2 weeks in 1966, on the AM airwaves before being pulled
off for playing subversive material to the public. I thought I just won
the lottery, and someone upstairs must really like me. Bob covered my
material costs, and offered to trade his gold for all the labor involved.
Needless to say, we spent a long summer in my animation studio filled
in a purple haze. Friends, strangers, even family arrived working all
hours of day and night, laughing and giggling all the way to the end of
the project. |
