THE 8 TREASURES
by Jin An Wong
OIL & ACRYLIC PAINTINGS 30" X 30" EACH / 8 PIECES
The original 8 Trigrams in the I Ching / Book Of Changes; China's earliest written text and basis for it's spiritual and philosophical outlook on the nature of reality, are ancient symbols that gave birth to the concept of yin & yang; the harmony of opposites, which gave birth to Tai Chi Chuan, a series of martial art movements integrated with deep breath work and meditation on circulating one's "Chi" for optimum health and well being.
This series honors the symbolic origins of Tai Chi Chuan in a contemporary artistic expression. My intention is to express the idea of "Chi" on canvas through the medium of oil & acrylic paint.
Each painting represents one aspect of the principals that guide one through the movements of the "8 Treasures" Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan sequence, which was taught to me by my Uncle; Master Wong Chuk Gan, President of the Taishan Tai Chi Chuan Academy in Taishan, China
